5 Exercises You Can Do At Home

Our favorite ways to make exercise enjoyable, without going to the gym!

Yep, winter is still here. Can you believe the nerve?! Just like that party guest who long overstays their welcome, we should be polite hosts and make the most of winter being all up in our business for the next several months.

That means finding enjoyable ways to exercise, even when opening the front door feels like entering the North Pole. We’re here to help, because after all, friends don’t let friends skip out on their new year's resolutions. We’re in this together, fam!

There are a lot of calorie-busting workouts you can do in your own casa. That’s right, you don’t even have to put on a coat or find your car keys. Just roll out of bed and try one or more of these in-home exercises. And who knows – you might fall in love and want to do them all year long.

1. Jump Rope

They aren’t just for kids! Why do you think Rocky Balboa trained with jump rope? Because it’s HARD. Try swinging that bad boy under your feet for a good minute or two and you’ll know what we’re talking about. Your calves might be screaming at you the next day, but they’ll thank you later when they look fierce in heels. And eventually you might even learn some fancy tricks. 2. Dancing

Have you ever thrown a dance party in your kitchen? That’s what we call fun spontaneous cardio, and we are HUGE fans. Grab your wooden-spoon microphone, turn the lights down, and the music up. Dance cardio is way more fun than a “dreadmill,” and there’s nobody you’ve got to impress as long as your window drapes are closed. #DancingKween

3. Deep cleaning

That’s right. Just how Mister Miyagi taught Danielson to “wax on” and “wax off,” you can get some physical training by doing chores around the house. We’re talking mopping floors, scrubbing tubs, washing windows, and pushing and pulling that heavy vacuum across every room. To really get hyped, plug in your headphones and listen to an energetic playlist.

4. Namaste at home

You don’t have to go to a yoga studio to get some Ohms. Do a quick search online and you’ll find tutorials for days! For literally anything and everything. Yoga for weight loss, yoga for neck pain, yoga for beginners, goat yoga, hot yoga, and for our lazier moods – even yoga you can do in bed. Whatever you choose, it’s great for strength, flexibility, and a relaxed mind.

5. Use your body

Who has a full set of weights at their house? Not us! There are tons of exercises you can do using your own body weight. Mountain climbers, skater lunges, diver push-ups …uh …regular-people squats. If you want to go wild you could even try using a TRX suspension trainer. It’s what the big boys and girls in the Navy SEALs use to work out their whole bodies while deployed. #LEGIT.
